Week 2 - SEO vs. SEM

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) are both crucial, essential aspects of online Marketing that can help drive traffic to a website. They are able to be used interchangeably, but they are not necessarily the same thing.

SEO

SEO is described as the practice of optimizing your website and its content to rank higher on search engine result pages organically. These searches are unpaid and typically appear under ads. SEO is programmed to attract visitors to a website by increasing visibility on search engines like Google and Bing.

SEM

SEM includes SEO and any paid advertising. It involves using paid ads that typically appear at the top of search engine result pages. This is an effective way to increase a website's visibility and drive traffic. This is especially powerful when targeting high-volume keywords.

Both SEM and SEO are extremely essential for success in online marketing, working hand-in-hand to deliver traffic to your website. SEO can optimize a website and improve your ranking on search engines while investing in SEM can help drive even more traffic and expand your reach. Even though they are two distant strategies they can work together to help businesses increase their visibility and reach more potential customers.
